Investigating the Unknown Through Curious Minds
Welcome
Parapsychology - Is a word we don't hear very often, no even on the 'ghost' TV shows, So what does it mean?
Parapsychology is the study of unusual experiences that seem to go beyond what science currently explains. It explores questions about the mind, consciousness, and whether people can sometimes experience things that cannot easily be explained by the normal five senses.
- Telepathy
- Clairvoyance (ESP)
- Precognition
- Psychokinesis (PK)
- Near-Death Experiences (NDEs)
- Out-of-Body Experiences (OBEs)
- Apparitions
- Hauntings
- Reincarnation
- Mediumship
- Anomalous Cognition
- Anomalous Experiences
So the information you will find will hopefully expand your mind and you learn that Paranormal means more than just "GGGG..Ghostssss " Shaggy & Scooby would say. Each subject will is explained in What We Do .
The site will be updated along the way with stories of research, investigations, photos and videos, if you have a story or photo you would like to share and if you wish us to publish it in our newsletter and on site please use the contact page to let us know I promise I will get back to you. Parapsychology is a great, interesting science.
Thank you.
The four key principles researchers try to
follow when
studying parapsychology,
1. Use Scientific Methods
Parapsychologists should use experiments and scientific methods to investigate unusual experiences rather than simply relying on stories or personal beliefs. For example, if researchers want to investigate telepathy, they could place two people in separate rooms. One person receives a picture and tries to mentally communicate it to the other person. The researchers then record the answers and compare them with what would be expected by chance.
2. Remain Objective
Researchers should remain neutral and avoid deciding that
something is paranormal before collecting evidence. For example, if someone claims they can predict the future, a researcher should not automatically believe or disbelieve them. Instead, they could record the person's predictions before an event happens and later check how many were actually correct.
3. Repeat Experiments
An experiment should be repeated to see whether the same results happen more than once. For example, if a study appears to show that someone can correctly guess hidden cards more often than chance would allow, other researchers should conduct similar experiments with different participants. If the unusual results continue to appear, they become more interesting and worth further investigation.
4. Collect and Analyse Evidence
Researchers should carefully record results and use statistics to determine whether the findings could have happened by chance. For example, if someone guesses the correct symbol on a hidden card 30 times out of 50, researchers would compare this result with the number of correct guesses expected by chance. This helps researchers decide whether the result is unusual enough to require further investigation.
Interesting Facts
Perceptual psychologist Karl Zener designed the cards in the early 1930s at Duke University for colleague
Zener cards (also called ESP or Rhine cards) feature five simple geometric symbols chosen primarily for practical experimental reasons rather than deep traditional symbolism.

Presentiment research looks for claimed bodily changes, such as shifts in heart rate or skin conductance, occurring seconds before an emotional image is randomly shown.

The term “telepathy” was introduced in 1882 by Frederic W. H. Myers, a co-founder of the Society for Psychical Research.

Precognition is the claimed ability to perceive future events before they occur—often reported through dreams, intuitions, or sudden impressions.

Parapsychology began as a serious Victorian-era attempt to investigate the supernatural with scientific tools. In 1882, scholars in London founded the Society for Psychical Research to study séances, ghosts, telepathy, and unusual experiences rather than simply dismiss them. Decades later, American botanist J. B. Rhine brought the subject into the laboratory at Duke University, using Zener cards and statistical tests to investigate ESP and psychokinesis. His work transformed psychic research from parlour séances into what became known as modern parapsychology—though its conclusions remain fiercely debated.
